Alex (she/her) started dancing at the age of 3 and fell in love with movement. She spent her childhood in the dance studio and on the stage, completing ballet exams and performing at local Festivals. She went on to complete a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Dance at York University in 2009. At York, she eagerly followed her classmates to their physiotherapy appointments and enjoyed studying for her anatomy exams.
This love of movement (and anatomy) inspired a career in Physiotherapy. Her practice is focused on pelvic health for all genders in an empowering and inclusive space. She has training in treating incontinence (both bladder and bowel), pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain. Alex also has a special interest in working with artistic athletes such as dancers, gymnasts, and circus performers as well as with hyper-mobility conditions such as Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome. She is committed to teaching and treating young dancers about their bodies and is an active member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science.
Alex currently sits as Treasurer on the Board of Healthy Dancer Canada. Outside of the clinic, Alex can usually be found cooking new foods, taking a dance class, or exploring the beauty of Vancouver Island.
