Occupational Therapist - Vancouver


Josh began his rehabilitation career as a personal trainer and kinesiologist. When struggling with recovery from his own injuries, Josh discovered the innovative strategies and equipment used in the field of occupational therapy, which led him to pursue a career in this new practice area.

After completing his Master of Occupational Therapy degree at the University of British Columbia in 2013, Josh gained experience in a variety of practice areas including chronic pain management, work-related psychological trauma, gradual return-to-work programs, concussion management, traumatic brain injury and home health.

Josh thrives on helping clients reach meaningful and purposeful goals. He does this through a combination of functional exercises, mental strategies, assistive technologies and environmental adaptations. His areas of special interest includes: 

  • Maximizing safety and independence in the home setting

  • Implementing mobility and transfer equipment such as manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, pressure relieving surfaces (seat cushions and beds), bathroom safety equipment, mechanical lifts, etc.

  • Educating clients on concussion management

  • Optimizing ergonomics in the home and work setting through improving body mechanics and/or implementing ergonomic equipment. 

  • Analysis of job demands and work environments

  • Organizing and monitoring effective and client-centered gradual return-to-work plans  

  • Coaching clients on chronic pain management strategies and adaptations
