Originally from Ontario, Amanda is a registered Occupational Therapist with a passion for promoting health and fitness. With experience working all throughout Canada, Amanda has worked in a variety of settings including Northern communities but ultimately, she has settled in nicely to Island Life. Amanda graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2011 with a degree Bachelor Kinesiology and went on to obtain her Masters in Occupational Therapy at Dalhousie University in 2013. Additionally, Amanda is an Exercise Physiologist through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologists (CSEP).
Amanda has experience in persistent pain management, mental health treatment, case management, home and work assessments, return to occupation following musculoskeletal injury, acquired brain injury and neurological conditions. Amanda has a special interest in helping people experiencing persistent pain and mental health concerns. Amanda also has experience in being a clinical leader, educating other therapists across British Columbia.
Amanda aims to have each of her sessions be collaborative with her clients, helping her patients reach their goals and live the most meaningful life possible. Blending her kinesiology and OT background, Amanda promotes active recovery and tailors her sessions to meet the individual needs of each client. Amanda puts emphasis in getting to know her clients and finding out what’s really important to them!
When she’s not at work you can find Amanda kayaking around Vancouver Island, working out, being a volunteer coach with the Special Olympics, hiking with friends or tending to her garden.
